Many seek out med spas and other aestheticians for laser hair removal services, but others may find these treatments out of their price range.

Recently, new products such as the No! No! Hair Removal System have hit the market, offering an electronic means of removing hair. There are some considerations, such as the nature of the product and the extent to which it “removes” hair. Do you suffer from sleep apnea? If so, you know what a frightening experience it can be to wake up feeling like you’ve been holding your breath. Many folks use a CPAP (continuous pressure airflow pressure) device, which uses a light amount of continuous air pressure to keep your breathing passage open.

Certainly, a CPAP does take some getting used to. Wearing a mask on your face can take some getting used to, which is to say nothing about having air constantly blown down your windpipe. Of course, compared to the frustrations and downright scariness of sleep apnea, this can be an acceptable trade. Also consider that sleep apnea can be caused by obesity, and that weight loss can be part of your sleep apnea treatment.

The February 26 shooting death of Trayvon Martin, 17, at the hands of George Zimmerman, 28, a neighborhood watch captain who said he acted in self-defense, has riveted the nation, largely because of race. Trayvon Martin was black. George Zimmerman is white and Hispanic.

For about 10 days, the story remained obscure. Television news from nearby Orlando aired a few segments. Pilot breakdown draws attention to mental health standards

Friday, March 30th, 2012

The midflight breakdown of a JetBlue pilot has sparked concerns about psychological screening for flight crews.

Capt. Clayton Osbon’s erratic behavior prompted Flight 191 from New York to Las Vegas to make an unscheduled landing in Amarillo, Texas, on Tuesday after crew and passengers intervened and subdued the 49-year-old pilot.

Osbon “yelled jumbled comments about Jesus, September 11th, Iraq, Iran, and terrorists,” according to a federal criminal complaint filed against Osbon. One passenger quoted Osbon as saying, “Pray f—— now for Jesus Christ,” the complaint said.

“It just seemed like something triggered him to go off the wall. He would be calm one minute and then just all of a sudden turn,” said passenger Jason Levin.

"The Hunger Games" builds target audience

Friday, March 30th, 2012

Mirroring a national boom, introductory archery classes have been packed as the buzz for “The Hunger Games” and its bow-toting heroine, Katniss Everdeen, has grown. This weekend, as “Hunger Games” fans spent $155 million at theaters, classes at the range were filled, mostly with girls and women hoping to channel their inner Katniss, said instructor Eva Yam.

“The last couple of weeks have been crazy, especially this last weekend,” said Yam, who read “The Hunger Games” trilogy last year, hoping to keep up on story references from her new students.

“(The crowds) were definitely all ‘Hunger Games’-related. We had a group of 20-something women who came in for a birthday party, who were going to the movie afterward. One of them had a T-shirt that said ‘Team Katniss.’”
