The world of orchids can be a scary one when you first join. Now you have your orchid what do you do next? Beginners often find orchid care a bit difficult. It does seem difficult at first because you are struck by the number of things that can go wrong. You will be pleased to know that with a bit of experience you will become much better at it.
Here is what a beginner must know about orchid care. It is important not to water your orchid too much. I know that when you first get your orchid that you want to keep them nice and healthy and there is an urge to water. Don’t water more than once per week unless your orchid is seriously dry. You want to ensure that that the water isn’t damp before you begin to water it.
Orchids originated in the tropics. Generally orchids prefer warm temperatures. This means that you should be paying more attention to any orchids that you have outside. If the weather is going to be cold then think about bringing them indoors into the warmth.
You want to position your orchid so that it receives enough natural light. A orchid loves to be positioned in the light but you will find that people also get this area of orchid care wrong. If you leave them in direct sunlight for too long you will notice their leaves going yellow.
So are you going to give it a go? After a bit of experience orchid care will seem much easier but the first thing you need to do is get an orchid!
