G Scale Model Railroad Designs (For Small Businesses)
We’re in tough economic times, there’s no ignoring it. It’s rough out there. Just dog eat dog! I was thinking the other day about some plans to draw more foot traffic into my store and what I came up with I think might work for you too. I was remembering how when I was a child and my mom was single with me in my brothers. In a very huge city. The ice and snow would push us into a department store during the holiday. It was one of the biggest, multistory department stores but it really isn’t important which. There, right in the store would be this amazing model locomotive layout. You had to wait because there were so many kids but after a time get your turn to press the button that made one of the many trains go around the track. What a great experience we had there! The track was the size of a swimming pool! As a kid you were just captivated by the world of imagination while you were in front of that track.
The point is: the the layout brought customers into the store and they often ended up buying something even if it was just to get their kids to leave that hypnotizing display. So here’s the thought I had:
Use display g scale railroad trains to draw pedestrians in:
Toy sellers have known this for a great while and hardware stores have found this a natural fit since customers can buy the accessories and kits for model railroading all right there. But I think other kinds of establishments could really benefit by having a toy train railroad, especially eye catching g scale trains and tracks. Any store with a front window that looks onto a busy sidewalk like in a commercial area could easily draw parents and their kids in. You don’t really need to be a business that is in any way hobby related. A pediatrician’s hospital might just have a train display to keep the kids busy while they waited to see the doctor or for prescriptions. Kids would pull their parents into the store and many parents would have great trouble leaving without getting their kids a little toy at least. Some parents would even welcome the time that their kids are enthralled by the locomotives to shop for themselves. The upfront cost of setting up the railroad and the lost space would pay for itself in no time. Surely, wherever parents and children are forced to wait would be helped from such an addition. This is sure to make for an insurance plan against bad times.
Consider a model train setup for your Bed and Breakfast and Restaurant:
This would be well suited for that B & B you’ve always dreamed of. Well what better way to help create a cool individualized experience than to feature a g scale model railroad design to your B & B? Imagine having a train along the inside of the bar taking customers their beer and peanuts. Customers would really get into watching the trains winding around them. You could top off your revenues by having train related knick knacks and souvenirs. If you already attract families to your business this could really be a way individuating between them choosing your business over your closest competitor. If you are in the American west this shouldn’t be hard since most of its past is related to the rise of rail travel.
Yeah, times are tough. Now’s the time to act decisively and creatively to maximize your business not sit back and be tossed by the waves of economic storms. A distinctive business identity is sure to help you succeed in this environment. I’ve only touched the surface. Bring to mind a bar where your drinks are delivered to the end of the counter by a Budweiser decorated trolley or…
