How To Choose 73 Inch Blinds For Large Windows

You’ll find that one of the hardest windows to choose window coverings for are large windows. The right blinds can make a huge statement and look gorgeous in any home. However, if you’re  there for longer than a short visit, they can create some serious problems. One of the biggest issues large windows can cause is a huge jump in your electric bill. In the summertime large windows can let in so much sunlight that those rooms are warmer than all the others. In the wintertime, they can cause you to lose a lot of hot air, making the room cooler than you would like. We’ll use windows that are 73 inches wide for our example here.

So how can you keep your beautiful windows from making living in your room so uncomfortable? The best solution I have found are 73 inch blinds. These are a great addition because they are so flexible. Although aluminum mini blinds can be a great fit in many instances, I’m not talking about those. I’m talking about 2 or 2 1/2 inch wood or faux wood 73 inch blinds. These are heavy duty blinds and can look fantastic in any room. And they give you the flexibility to pull the blinds all the way up for an unobstructed view or you can tilt the slats to let in light, or close the blinds completely to block out all light. There are many attractive variations for both wood and faux wood blinds, you can choose to have stained or painted wood blinds or stained and painted faux wood blinds. You can also choose to have a routeless ladder option, which keeps the manufacturer from drilling any holes into your 73 inch blinds slats: this helps with privacy and reduces the amount of light that is let in from around the blinds. Or you can choose cloth tapes, which adds more than just a decorative touch. Cloth tapes also cover the operating holes for the 73 inch blinds, blocking out the light that typically seeps in.

For large windows that are 73 inches wide, you should consider getting two or three blinds on one headrail. It would be extremely hard to pull up 73 inch blinds: that’s about 6 feet of window blinds! Instead, cut the blinds down to more manageable sizes: 2 or 3 feet apiece and put them on one headrail so you only need to hang one set of blinds.
