In this economy, would it be advisable to go into the field of fitness, nutrition etc.?

I’d really like to be some sort of personal/athletic trainer.

if you are basing your career choice on the economy I would say "no" to the personal/athletic trainer field. When people begin to cut back on their spending it’s the non-essential expenses that go first. People who could normally afford workout club memberships and personal trainers realize that they can get other forms of exercise without having to pay for it.

If you have something to offer that other trainers do not, you should have no trouble. However, services that people can really do for themselves (cooking, cleaning, lawn care, etc.) are going to be on the decline as people start pinching their pennies.

Bottom line, if this is something about which you are very passionate, go for it. You will find success. However, if it’s just a vague thought, try to find something more stable right now.

Honestly, most likely not. When people hardly can put food on the table, luxuries like personal trainers are put on the back burner.

People are cutting back, not paying for gyms and personal trainers etc. Go into the teleprompter production business, Obama is making them millions.

Long term it might be a good idea but keep in mind people cutting back might cut back on spending for that.

People dont need a trainer to exercise.

With the nutrition thing you could possibly work at a hospital as far as the fitness how about physical therapy. You will never have to worry about finding employment in health care.

Once the paper / fiat money standard fails
then skills in fitness and nutrition will flourish.
You should be proud of your learned knowledge and benefit
from that skill with sound gold and other commodity backed money.
    Good luck to you
Just a little while longer and the world will balance out.
If you separate yourself from toxic Government and anything they touch
    you will be on top.

Aerobics instructors and stronger business model athletic programs are not the best choices but not the worst either.

If you really want a good, stable, well-paying career with a lot of growth over the next 20-40 years, become a registered nurse. There are currently 600,000 nursing positions open in the country and they generally have the best lifestyle of the available career possibilities.

When people are struggling with their budget, they are quick to drop the gym membership & vow to just go jogging more often. Or those who still go to the gym, decide to not use a personal trainer as often.

So this would not be the best way to go at the moment. But if you are talking about getting training that will take 2 years to complete, I bet the economy will be on the upswing by then.

The best jobs are those that help people save money. A person might start a job insulating houses so people can save money on their electric bill this summer. That kind of thing.

Try to think how you can make money saving people money.
