What is an HCG diet? Dr Simeons created the HCG diet weight loss. A natural hormone called HCG is used during the whole diet period. It is a glycoprotein hormone that is produced by a pregnant woman and Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is what HCG stands for. The hormone is essencial to the endocrine functions during the baby’s conception.
Dr Simeons developed a theory called Simeons Theory and this explains the role of HCG in weight loss. In his studies, he discovered that pregnant women in India suffered malnutrition all throughout their pregnancies but are still able to give birth to normal healthy babies. In addition to that, the hypothalamus is being reset to change the person’s eating habit and behavior towards food.
The HCG diet is divided into phases. Phase 1 is called the loading phase. The phase requires no control of the food intake at all. In fact, the dieter should build up his stored body fats by eating all the fatty and high-calorie foods until he is satisfied. However, the phase is only good for 2 days. After that, the second phase which is the Very Low Calorie Diet starts. In the diet program, this phase is considered to be the most difficult and vital.
The dieter must limit his calorie intake to only 500 a day and must only have two meals. Lunch and dinner should equally have only 200-250 calories per meal and breakfast is commonly omitted.
This phase is going to train the body and change the mindset of the dieter. For 23 days, HCG will help cut the appetite of the person in diet. That way, the dieter slowly changes his normal daily calorie intake.
The third phase of the HCG diet is the maintenance phase. The dieter can now again consume normal foods and drinks and even those that have high calories. Since he had already developed the new mindset and eating discipline, controlling his daily calorie intake and the maintenance of the new body shape for long term will never again be an issue.
