How do i get my dog to gain muscle?
I have an 8 month old bull mastiff and i want to start building up muscle on him. should i start now or should i wait until he is older? what should i start with (please don’t say to just walk him everyday because i already know that). i want some advice on proper training to make his muscles stand out. i also want it to be safe so he doesn’t injure him self. thank you!!!
I think it’s a bit young yet, you can do walking and such. Wait till abour a year of age or a bit older when he’s finished growing. Ask the vet for suggestions on exersise and diet ideas to help the dog gain muscles in a healthy and safe mannor.
Good luck

i want to be a vet assistant so i know quite a bit about dogs and i would say look into a new type of food with lots of vitamins and minerals! but you dont want to switch hiss food right away you want to slowly transition him or he will just get sick! but b4 you go out and by new food i would actually call the vet and ask him if they have any recomendetions on the type of food he should b on!

at 8 months he should be starting to reach his full size so this would probably be a good time to start building muscle. you should increase his protein because proteins are essential to building muscle. if you work him in different types of environments, the change of scenery will work his muscles in different ways (take him for a run one day, take him swimming the next, go for a run on the sand at the beach, etc.) may i ask why you want him to gain muscle? anyways, good luck!

mastiff aren’t usually known for chiseled muscles, they are known for large bodies, one smooth line of muscles.
18 months to 2 years old before strength training, baby bones can’t take it.
contact a mastiff breeder for specific regiments on training.
a him dog, okay first question from me, is he neutered yet?
if the answer is yes you are going to have a tough time getting the muscle definition you are looking for.
the testosterone is the chemical that chisels the muscle masses, kinda like a mr. universe only in the dog. so if he doesn’t have his parts, no definition, sorry
if he does have everything in tack, then you can get the definition you are after, but the dog really doesn’t care about muscles rippling on his body, dog doesn’t have anybody to impress so why should you?
a mastiff is a large enough animal, his endurance is different than a shepherds or a rotts, don’t torture him.

Any high-protein Dog Food is the absolute best if your dog is looking to gain muscle, canned dog food is normally best.

Some has to do with genetics. After he is a year to 18 months old, you can increase his protein intake slightly, but the best thing is moderate exercise. hill walking, running on sand, etc…will build his muscles in a safe way. FWIW, I don’t see very many "cut" bull mastiffs- I think that genetically they tend to be beefier rather than "cut". boerboels, cane corsos, and dogo argentinos are the more naturally muscular of the molosser breeds.
